About These Stories

Where these stories come from

People have used stories to make sense of hard things for as long as people have existed. A fable about a fox. A tale told at a funeral. A parable passed from a grandmother to a grandchild. Almost every culture has them, and the best ones last because they show you something without telling you what to do about it.

The stories on this site follow that old habit. Each one is an original retelling, set in ordinary modern life, inspired by ideas that wisdom traditions around the world have carried forward for centuries. Some trace back to Buddhist teaching stories. Some echo Aesop, Stoic writers, folk tales, or things I have watched happen between real people. None of them copy an existing text. I drafted the stories with the help of AI, then read, edited, and approved them before anything went live.

What these stories are

Short pieces to read and think about. Each one includes a short note on what to notice and a question you can sit with or skip.

What they are not

They are not therapy, medical advice, or a fix for anything. A story can offer a fresh angle on a problem. It cannot replace a person who knows your situation. If you are carrying something heavy, please talk to someone who can help. The page “Need more than a story?” has a place to start.

Why I built this

Over the years, I have read some cool stories that gave me great insights. I wanted to share that idea with you by creating stories that could help you gain insight into the issues you're working on. I hope these stories give you that.
